<p>Do you hear the birds chirping? Have you noticed the daffodils blooming?</p>
<p>This can only mean one thing: spring is here, and with that, Staffology Payroll has received some great new features!</p>
<p>In this blog, we&#8217;ve covered some of the recent product updates and what they mean for you.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Changes to statutory sick pay (SSP)</h2>
<p>As part of the first wave of reforms to the Employment Rights Act 2025 coming in April 2026, statutory sick pay is undergoing a structural change.</p>
<p>Firstly, the Employment Rights Act 2025 removes the three day wait, meaning SSP will be payable from the first day of illness and employees will no longer need to wait until the fourth day to claim sick pay.  </p>
<p>In addition, the lower salary threshold (LEL) will be abolished, which means that PAS will become accessible to all employees, regardless of their income.  </p>
<p>To support these changes, the team has been working hard to update Staffology Payroll, ensuring all of these changes are reflected in the system to keep you compliant:</p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Where an employee&#8217;s average weekly salary is below the standard SSP flat rate, Staffology Payroll will automatically calculate their entitlement at 80% of that average weekly salary.</li>
<li>Staffology Payroll will automatically calculate the SSP for all eligible days from that point on.</li>
<li>Staffology Payroll will automatically switch to payments on day one – no need to “top up” waiting days after switching.</li>
<li>The system automatically splits calculations at the fiscal year boundary, so employees will not be disadvantaged for absences and you will not need to intervene manually in these scenarios.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Average holiday pay</h2>
<p>Staffology Payroll now supports calculating average time off using days rather than hours, providing a more accurate result for flextime workers.</p>
<p>In the system, “days worked” and “payroll” can now be imported and then used in calculating the daily average.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Multiple pay slip downloads</h2>
<p>Following strong customer demand (<em>the most voted feature request on the Staffology ideas portal</em>), users can now download multiple payslips for an employee over a chosen date range.</p>
<p>Simply select a date range and the system will find all available payslips there.</p>
<p>You can then download them as individual PDFs in a zip file or as a single combined payslip document.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bonus: how to manage the end of the year in Staffology Payroll</h2>
<p>Around this time of year, we often get a lot of questions about how to handle the end of the year in Staffology Payroll.</p>
<p>During the recent product update webinar, the team walked through the process, demonstrating how simple it is.</p>
<p>Once the last pay period of the fiscal year is completed in the system, users are automatically given the option to “start the year-end process.”</p>
<p>From there, simply follow the on-screen instructions.</p>
<p>When the tax year is closed, Staffology Payroll will automatically roll over into the new tax year.</p>

<p>A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.</p>
<p>In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.</p>
<p>The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.</p>

<p>In this blog, we have covered some of the recent updates.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">HR: employee engagement</h2>
<p>Cascade users now have the ability to create personalized login messages, helping to improve communication and engagement upon accessing the platform.</p>
<p>With this feature, users can select:</p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Message display times</li>
<li>Who you want to target</li>
<li>Whether you want to send text or embed a YouTube video</li>
</ul>
<p>In the future, we will look to add additional personalization features so that you can further personalize your messages.</p>
<p><strong>Note:</strong> <em>employees have the option to close the message and come back to it later.</em></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">HR: improved user navigation</h2>
<p>We listened to customer feedback and updated our left navigation.</p>
<p>Cascade users can now collapse, pin, and move the sidebar.</p>
<p>Minimizing the sidebar frees up a lot more screen, helping to improve visibility.</p>
<p>As for the pinning functionality, you can select areas such as the <em>details menu</em>ensuring key information remains on screen.</p>
<p>Additionally, you can also move the location of these pinned sections, allowing you to position and customize the screen in the way that suits you best.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s also worth noting that Cascade remembers these changes and applies them to all browsers. So the next time you log in, everything will be in one place.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Payroll: calculation changes </h2>
<p>Previously, Cascade only performed calculations using one method: days in the period.</p>
<p>We have now added two additional calculation methods:</p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Daily rate totals</li>
<li>Daily rate difference</li>
</ul>
<p>The pro rata method for<strong> total daily rates</strong> allows you to specify for how many days you want the daily rate to be calculated.</p>
<p>When selecting <strong>total daily rates</strong>you can enter the number of days in the field. </p>

<p>Scheduled payroll reports are frequently requested.</p>
<p>Well, we listened and we acted.</p>
<p>As with scheduled HR reports in Cascade, you can select the dates and times you want to send your reports.</p>
<p>However, one of the new additions for Payroll is the ability to enter additional settings information into reports.</p>

<p>In this blog, we&#8217;ve summarized the hard work of our product team, highlighting some recent updates.</p>

<p>IRIS will make significant investments in Staffology Payroll over the next four years to make payroll simpler, faster and smarter.</p>
<p>This investment will be distributed between the following four areas:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Additional Payroll Processing</h2>
<p>Supplemental payroll, or off-cycle payroll, is a special payroll process conducted outside of the regular schedule to meet specific needs.</p>
<p>Historically, if adjustments were necessary after finalizing a payroll, a lot of manual intervention was required, otherwise it would be necessary to wait until the following month.</p>
<p>Now available in Staffology Payroll, additional payroll processes give you much greater flexibility, allowing you to easily manage things like:</p>

<li>Error corrections</li>
<li>Final paycheck</li>
<li>Refunds</li>
<li>Retroactive salary</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Combined Pensions Report</h2>
<p>This new report has been designed for pension providers who only allow one submission per month.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re limited to submitting monthly but running weekly payroll, you&#8217;ll need to add up all the weeks and consolidate them into a single file before uploading, which is time-consuming and prone to human error.</p>
<p>What we did was create a report in Staffology Payroll that allows you to select the retirement plan, schedule, and end/end dates, automatically adding up all ready retirement contributions for a single submission.</p>

<p>You can now view HMRC notices directly in Staffology Payroll.</p>
<p>The system will display all DPS notices sent by HMRC and the period to which they were applied.</p>
<p>This feature allows you to easily see what&#8217;s happening with employee payroll, which is useful for answering employee questions about tax changes.</p>

It is designed to ensure transparency, instill confidence and support reasonable diligence of customer safety; Whether you are an existing customer, a potential customer or a security assessor. We believe that open and easy -to -access information is essential to establish confidence, especially when it comes to protecting your commercial and employee data.</p>
