Welcome to the final edition of the Employment Hero 2024 Product Update: Can you believe another year is almost done and dusted?

Even though 2024 is coming to an end, our product updates certainly aren’t. So what’s new in December?

We have improved the organization chart, added more flexibility to the expense approval processes, addition of a new average import over 52 weeks, and more.

Before we dive in, we’d like to thank you for your continued support throughout 2024. It’s been a huge year for us, and 2025 should be equal. bigger.

We’d also like to thank you for your continued feedback on our product and features – many of our product updates and features come to life thanks to your feedback, so if you have any ideas or opinions, we’re always listening.

Let’s go.

We’ve added more flexibility to the expense approval process

Available on the following packages: Classic: Platinum, EOS: Plus and Unlimited

Every business manages expenses differently, so we’re excited to announce greater flexibility when it comes to setting up your own expense approval process in Employment Hero.

You can now customize your approval processes by adding “location” and “cost center” fields to expense workflows. For example, you can add an additional approval requirement for large expenses or a rule that automatically approves all expenses recorded by your CEO. Additionally, you can customize approval processes based on employee cost center, location, or even team.

These enhancements make it easier to align workflows with your organizational structure and help improve operational efficiency.

Keep an eye out for similar flexibility coming to the leave approval process in 2025!

We’ve made the workforce planning tool even more powerful with new updates

Say hello to a new and improved org chart

Available on the following packages: All packages

As your business grows, reviewing the organizational chart may seem overwhelming.

To give you a clearer picture, you can now navigate your organization chart faster and more intuitively with the new mini-map. It replaces scrollbars, saving time and making your experience smoother.

The tool gives you a mirror image of the org chart, with the added functionality of adding vacancies.
You can also easily add and pre-populate details such as team, entity, job type, dates and pay scale when creating vacancies. These enhancements streamline integration, improve workforce planning, and provide advanced reporting filtering.

We’ve made some changes to the pay rate models in Jobs Hero’s HR and Payroll platforms.

Available on the following packages: All Payroll Plans

We’ve made some changes to the way your organization manages pay rates and salaries, and we think you’ll love them.

Previously, Pay Rate Models (PRTs) were not available in HR, meaning those using this feature had to make updates in Employment Hero HR and Payroll to ensure any new salaries were reflected on both platforms.

From now on, PRTs will be accessible in HR. If your organization uses PRTs in Payroll, you should now have the ability to assign them directly to HR employees.

Important points to note:

You do not need to migrate existing PRTs, this was done for you during migration.

If you already manage salaries in HR but do not use PRT, this update will not impact your current process.

Forward salaries will default to “manually set rates” after migration.

If you use PRTs, these will now flow from HR to Payroll, simplifying the process and reducing manual work.

We added a new 52-week average import

Available on the following packages: All Payroll Plans

Users can now import 52-week average paid time off data into the payroll platform. This can be done through the Data Extracts screen, where administrators can download a spreadsheet template. Next, the user needs to enter the employee details such as their ID, name, start date of the imported week, number of hours worked this week and hourly rate.

The first pay cycle must have been opened to import the data. Week start dates must precede first pay cycle dates and cannot contain first pay cycle dates.

To use this new feature, select an open pay cycle, download the template, import the data, review your pay cycles and export the results.

Find out more about the average holiday pay over 52 weeks.

Follow us every month for the latest and greatest product updates

We want our customers to get the most out of our platform.
